Wegovy is the brand name for semaglutide licensed for chronic weight management in adults and, in some markets, adolescents meeting specified criteria. It is injected once weekly. It contains the same active ingredient as Ozempic but is a separate product with its own indication, strengths and presentation.
What Wegovy is
Wegovy is semaglutide approved for chronic weight management, used alongside diet and physical activity in adults meeting specified BMI criteria, with additional approvals for adolescents and for cardiovascular risk reduction in certain markets and populations.
The distinction from Ozempic is regulatory and practical rather than chemical: different indication, different approved strengths, different presentation, different insurance treatment. Both contain semaglutide.
The pen and what to record
Wegovy's established presentation is a single-dose pen: one pen, one weekly injection, then discard.
