Peptide trackers vs GLP-1 trackers

Peptide trackers and GLP-1 trackers are built on opposite assumptions. Peptide apps assume a vial you reconstitute yourself, with concentration you determine. GLP-1 apps assume a pen with a fixed dose and a weekly rhythm. Neither model fits the other, which is why people running both end up with two apps and a broken history.

These are not two feature sets with some overlap. They disagree at the level of the data model about what a "dose" is — a derived amount in one, a device setting in the other. See pens versus vials.
What breaks when you use the wrong one
A GLP-1 pen in a peptide app
- It asks for a reconstitution volume that does not exist, so people invent one.
- Derived "units" appear for a pen where units are meaningless, inviting error.
- The titration ladder has nowhere to live, so strength changes get lost in notes.
- Weight and appetite tracking are usually absent entirely.
A research peptide in a GLP-1 app
- There is no vial concentration field, so mcg amounts cannot be derived at all.
- Every-3-day schedules cannot be expressed against weekday checkboxes.
- Blends have no representation, so a three-peptide vial becomes three fake compounds.
- The compound list is a fixed set of brand-name medications with no way to add your own.
The third option: format as a property
The fix is not to add GLP-1 features to a peptide app or vice versa. It is to stop assuming a format at all, and make it a property of each compound:
- Lyophilised vial → show mass, diluent volume, derived concentration, syringe units.
- Manufacturer pen → show product, strength, dial setting, first-use date. No reconstitution fields at all.
- Manufacturer or compounded vial → show stated concentration and volume drawn, but no reconstitution.
- Oral, nasal or topical → show the fields those routes actually need.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use a GLP-1 tracker for research peptides?
Usually not well. GLP-1 apps typically work from a fixed list of brand-name medications with manufacturer-set strengths, and have no field for the vial concentration you create by reconstitution — which means microgram amounts cannot be derived at all.
Can I use a peptide tracker for Ozempic or Wegovy?
You can log the dates, but peptide apps generally push every compound through a reconstitution flow that does not apply to a pen. The result is invented diluent volumes and derived unit figures that mean nothing, which is worse than not recording them.
Why don't more apps handle both?
Because handling both means treating format as a property of each compound rather than a global assumption, which is a data-model decision made early. Retrofitting it onto an app built around one format is substantially harder than building for it from the start.
Is it a problem to keep two separate logs?
It costs you the single most useful thing a log provides: one timeline where a side effect can be related to everything you took that week. Two logs means the correlation nobody can see is the one that mattered.
