An expiration date is the manufacturer's labelled date through which an unopened product is expected to meet specifications when stored as directed.

Opening, reconstitution or transfer can introduce a separate in-use or beyond-use limit. The exact wording on a label or source should be preserved because similar-looking terms can carry different technical meanings. A clean record separates identity, mass, volume, concentration, device calibration, dates and source instead of compressing them into one ambiguous note.

Keeping both expiration and first-access dates avoids treating them as the same deadline.

Where the term enters a calculation

PepCycle.app calculators use only explicit physical inputs: labelled mass, measured liquid volume, a value entered by the user and the calibration printed on a syringe. If this term is not one of those inputs, it remains descriptive metadata rather than silently changing the formula.

How to record it clearly

• Copy the exact wording, unit and spelling from the original label or source.
• Keep the value beside its date, product identity and source link.
• Do not replace an unknown value with an assumed default.

This structure keeps later conversions auditable. Someone reviewing the record can see which facts came from a label, which values were measured, which values were entered by the user and which numbers were calculated.
